WIth respect, I totally get where Pastor Manning is coming from, but, here’s the thing. Life isn’t as simple as it appears. Some people when they’ve gotten up in age, especially in this economic downturn, have been “knocked for a loop.” Many have been laid off, RIF’D, or got into massively
unsustainable credit card debt. I know that I’ve had my issues. Anyway, the point is that if a person’s never been a homeowner, then this market being a Bear Market, would be a good bet to
get into a home, because there’s literally millions al over the country going for pennies on the Dollar. I’m leery of anything like that for a middleaged person, that might be still getting back on their feet. I’d be careful, and today, there such a thing as what I call “Dumb Debt,” and “Smart Debt,” (I don’t like the terms when it comes to finances as “good” or “bad” because it’s contextual, and everybody’s lives are different.) Smart Debt is like Student Loans, or a equity loan to get a new car. Things of that nature. Many people know that lots of experts give you the advice like Suze Ormond that you should pay rent for a time, before you get into more of the same, we need to see where this market is going.
