Behind every major event, especially tragic ones, there is a cadre of people that find it impossible to accept the events as they occurred. This is nothing new. There were people in the North that were convinced that the Confederate government was behind the assassination of President Lincoln. They did not want to believe that one deranged stage actor could change history by himself. The same thing happened with President Kennedy’s murder. If Hinckley had been killed by the Secret Service and President Reagan had also died we would have conspiracy theories all over the place. There are people who still think we didn’t go to the moon. It was too big an event for them to deal with. Likewise today, a black man being elected president was too much for a number of people so they had to rationalize it somehow as not being legitimate. Therefore, the creation of the birthers. The 9/11 events likewise created the

common trait, low self esteem and a weak mind that
