"Father of the Year Award" - Ulises Manuel Ruiz

Letter from ATLAH Ministries to Manuel Ruiz:

Dear Mr. Ruiz:
Peace, blessings, and greetings in the name of precious Lord and His name is Jesus.

Just a brief note to let you know that I was impressed with your prayer request during our new ministry called, "The Temple Hour of Prayer" on 17 June 2008. At that time, I stated that I would be awarding you "The Father of the Year Award" for you powerful demonstration love, commitment, and trust to your family.

On behalf of myself and the entire ATLAH World Missionary Church, please accept this certificate as a righteous man living for the Lord in these perilous times.

Finally, remember to tell all your family and friends to tune into the Temple Hour of Prayer daily at 3:00 PM, and to send in their prayer concerns.

In His Royal Service,

The Honorable James David Manning

Letter from Manuel Ruiz to ATLAH Ministries:

July 21, 2008

ATLAH Worldwide Church
Honorable Rev. James David Manning

I was surprised and at the same time deeply honored by your thoughts and this wonderful and priceless gift and plaque, "Father of the Year." I iimmediately and proudly hung it in my daughter Michelle Janette Ruiz's bedroom.

It's been more than twenty-one years for me of profound dedication to maintain and keep my daughter alive, while waiting for the Lord to decide what to do with her. I'm very sure that He has everything under control at all times, and without a doubt He is Michelle's Real Father. I'm just someone in charge of providing her with love, education, care, and spiritual guidance in order to stimulate a stronger base for her future.

It was very sad for me when I lost my wonderful wife Milan and eldest daughter Millie. Millie was to graduate from high school few days after we were involved in that terrible automobile accident on June 11, 1987. But I did hold up my strength; it was our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who helped me maintain myself and to take care of my daughter Michelle. I have always prayed for her, and I have never lost my faith in God. I know very well that there is a reason for everything, and the Lord will make the right decision when the time comes.

During the Terry Schiavo case, Michelle and I were the center of the local news here in Miami. Some other Spanish TV stations also picked up the story and began airing it in many other major cities around the country, including Central and South America for more than one week. The Vatican also ran the story in their cable TV media for the same period of time, stating how a father with dedication, love, and faith in God still hpoped to see a miracle happen for his daughter. I'm sure that all our effort to save Terry's life during those days perhaps also saved other lives around the world with similar cases like ours.

I'm originally from Cuba, and I came to the United States when I was fifteen years of age; I flew directly to Chicago, Illinois in 1957 and accompanied my father. A few years later I was able to bring my mother and grandmother to live with us as well. My uncle, Rev. Edmundo Morgado, was a Methodist Pastor in Cuba where he was able to teach the word of God, build several Christian schools, and Churches around the island. Later they moved to New York where he preached and subsequently retired.

All along the way, "The Lord was my Shepherd," in 1964 when I joined the Army and later when He let me have a beautiful family for more than twenty years. My wonderful wife Milan was a very devoted and active Southern Baptist Church parishioner, always guided us on the right path to believe that the only way to walk, was to hold hands with our Lord Jesus Christ. That understanding was more than enough to sustain us in every way at all times. Praise The Lord!

Rev. Manning, if any one ever asked you how we made it, I would tell them the Lord was always with us. When it got so heavy for me to carry the anguish, the sadness, and the burden of my daughter's care for all those years, I was able to do everything by putting all my trust in the Lord. I was able to unload and then the Lord took that heavy load until the following day. Then I was able to pick it up again and keep on going.

Once again, I want to thank you so much for the blessing we received when you and your congregation prayed for Michelle, I know that He always listens to us when we gather together in faith. You really touched our hearts with your thoughts and beautiful award.

Please keep Michelle and myself in your prayer book, God Bless you, your family, and congregation. I will always keep you in my prayers too.

Sincerely Yours,

Ulises Manuel Ruiz
