The reason why so many people are lost in the churches is because so many preachers do not know how to properly divide the word of truth.
There is a purgatory, or a resting place. You do not go straight to heaven when you die. You wait there for the resurrection. You do not immediately go and be with the Lord.
If that was the case, when Lazarus died, he would have been with God in heaven, but that is not the case.
But there are people that you just cannot convince.
You have to look at the gospels themselves, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The first three cover the same events, but John’s gospel is completely different.
I have a deep Southern inbrededness, and deeply folksy. The words that I say are based in Southern ideology. I have a folksy language so that most people can get it and understand what I am saying.
So, if someone picks up my sermons 500 years from now, they would have to understand where we were in 2020, and where I was from, and how I talked, etc.
The same with the Bible. We have to critique the scriptures according to who they were written by and what was their surroundings.
So if you think that 2nd Corinthians 5:8 means that the moment you die you are going to be with the Lord, you are wrong!
This was written 2000 years ago and needs to be understood as such.
The book of Revelation requires a uniqueness of critique.
Isaiah said a tree shall clap their hands. He is using a poetic form to speak because we know that trees don’t have hands.
There are people that are under the altar right now that have not went to heaven, and we are going to look at that.
I Samuel 28:1-12: And it came to pass in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. And Achish said unto David, Know thou assuredly, that thou shalt go out with me to battle, thou and thy men.
2 And David said to Achish, Surely thou shalt know what thy servant can do. And Achish said to David, Therefore will I make thee keeper of mine head for ever.
3 Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.
4 And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they pitched in Gilboa.
5 And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled.
6 And when Saul enquired of the Lord, the Lord answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.
8 And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.
9 And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?
10 And Saul sware to her by the Lord, saying, As the Lord liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.
11 Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.
12 And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul.
Samuel is dead, but this woman with this familiar spirit had the power to bring Samuel up out of the place of the dead. Do you’ll remember Miss Cleo? She gave birth to people like Joyce Meyer and T.D. Jakes and Joel Osteen. She was fascinating. They caught her doing something wrong with money and took her down, but she had a demon spirit on her.
If Samuel is not in heaven, then your grandma is not there either, and people really need to come to terms with that.
Revelation 6:9-10: And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: Vs. 10: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
There is some of the most righteous people that ever walked the planet, but they are not in heaven either. John the Baptizer, Paul, Peter, and others are not in heaven.
The first resurrection will be to resurrect those that are not in heaven, and even with the first resurrection, they are not going to heaven but are going to reign and rule with Christ for 1000 years.
But the rest of the dead, who are not under the altar, will not be resurrected until after the 1000 years are over.
If we look at the 5 books of Moses, we have to look at the historical context and tools and applications to be able to understand the books, but Revelation is not history yet, so you cannot read it using historical applications.
So when you read Revelation, you have to understand that you are reading something that hasn’t happened yet.
The seals have not been opened. We must understand all of this.
One of the first people we saw resurrected in the Bible was Lazarus. He was dead and Jesus raised him up. And there were a few others that were raised up in the Bible by Jesus.
If you think that Jesus took these people back out of heaven and made their spirits go back into their bodies, you are wrong. Yet that is what the Protestant churches are teaching.
Stop listening to these motivational speakers! They do not have a special anointing to teach and they are teaching in error.
The Catholic church believes in purgatory. You have to go through 8 years of studying the Catholic doctrine before they release you to teach the people.
Looking at the first resurrection, we know that it hasn’t happened yet.
The elect will occupy the 1000-year reign of peace, and they will rule and reign with Christ. We will walk with Abraham and John and Samuel and all of those that are going to be raised up from under the altar.
Happy Rosh Hashanah to all of my Jewish friends.
